Entry Criteria

Salaried and Non-Salaried Secondary School Direct Routes through CTSN SCITT

To be eligible to apply for the salaried and non-salaried secondary School Direct routes you will need the following:

  • A minimum of a 2.2 Honours degree (or overseas equivalent confirmed by NARIC UK). At least 50% of your degree should be in the subject you wish to study. However, applicants who hold an undergraduate degree in a non-related subject but have significant work experience relevant to the subject they wish to study may also be considered.

  • A 'C' grade or above in English and Maths GCSE or overseas equivalent confirmed by NARIC UK

  • To have passed the QTS skills tests in English and Maths before starting the course (not before interview).
  • If English is not your first language we recommend that you sit a test to show your competence and fluency in the English language.  This is called IELTS (Academic)  (International English Language Testing System, Academic Test) and is an internationally recognised system for demonstrating fluency in English (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking).  There is no pass or fail mark for the IELTS exam but you will be marked on a 9 point system (1-9).  We usually look for a level 7 as this ensures that you have the fluency necessary to meet the requirements of the academic content in our programmes.  If you would like to discuss this further please contact us.

For the salaried route you will also need:
  • To have at least three years’ work experience either before or after leaving university. This work experience does not necessarily need to be related to teaching or education.

Non-Salaried Primary School Direct Route through CTSN SCITT
