National Professional Qualification for Headship

Latest NPQH News - CTSN has been working successfully in partnership with Leadership East as licensee to deliver the NPQ nationally accredited qualifications for the past four years. The NPQH is being redesigned to build upon the suite of qualifications known as the Leadership Curriculum. This reform puts schools and partnerships in the driving seat of leadership professional development (DfE, 2017).

Leadership East, a strong partnership led by 11 primary, secondary and special schools in the region, has taken the step to build on their excellent track record of delivering leadership development programmes, including the NPQs, for over 3,000 school leaders, by applying for approval from the DfE to deliver the reformed Leadership Curriculum from September 2017.

However, the government has now entered the official pre-election period in preparation for the General Election on 8 June. During this pre-election period, there are significant constraints on the nature of decisions that can be taken and public announcements that can be made. As a result, the DfE will not be in a position to announce the results of the accreditation of providers of the reformed NPQs prior to a new government being formed. We will continue to keep you updated on this matter.

Who is NPQH for?

Those who are, or are aspiring to become, a headteacher or head of school with responsibility for leading a school. This includes those who are, or are aspiring to be, a head or head of school with cross-school responsibilities e.g. a National Leader of Education (NLE).
